Wat Intarawihan Temple is a monastery built befor the Rattanakosin era. There is no official evidence of the construction. It was called " Wat Bangkhunphromnok Temple " after its location (district) during the reign of the King Rama I. King Rama I graciously bestowed the district for the Laotain prisoners' housings. Later, Chao In, the boss of Chao Noi Kiewkom, the concubine of King Rama I had restored the temple and renamed it  "Wat Intharam Temple". It was also mto pay homage to the restorer of this temple. Chao In invited a monk who migrated together from vientien to rule the temple which was Chao Khun Phra Aranyik, a meditation expert. The monk at the time had a good relationship with Phra Bavornviriyaten (Yu), The 2nd abbot of Wat Sangwet Wissayaram Temple and used to be a teacher of Wat Rakang Kositaram Temple. The evidence related to Vientien Resident remained in Wat intaraviharn Temple is the Dharma scripture written in Laos (It is beliveved to have been restored by the Prince Inwong., the Royal Prince of Somdet Phrabowornratchao Mahasakdiphonsep). In the reign of King Rama IV, Luangpo To of Wat Rakang Temple started building a large standing  Buddha image and completed in the reign of King Rama VII.  Wat Intararam Temple was changed to Wat Intarawiharn in the reign of King Rama VI due to being resembled with Wat Intaram (Wat Bangyeerue Tai) in Thonburi There for this royal temple was officially called "Wat Intarawiharn Temple" ever since. It is still being called "Wat In" in short or " Wat Luangpo To " or "Wat In BangKhunprom"  by the civilians nowadays. Luangpo TO is a huge standing Buddha image built by himself. He was once a student in Phra Aranyik House, the 1st abbot. The buddha image was built in Holding an Alms-Bowl posture covered with robe. Luangpo To passed away when the statue was only as high as the stomach. Later Chao Athikan Phu, the abbot and some civilians therefore communally continued the construction. It was completeed in the reignof the abbot Phrakru Intarasamajarn. After the completion, the cerebration was yeary held during 4-6 March 1935. Annual veneration is permitted by the Ministry of interior.
